Supporting Today's Youth
Why?
Think about it...
The world in which we live offers countless activities in which our children can become involved in their developing years... school and community sports, educational clubs, and community organizations. Sadly, some children may not have been born with athletic genes or are limited in their participation due to family circumstances beyond their control. Others are simply searching for 'something' to which they can hold on to - an organization that doesn't judge one's success based on how fast they can run, how smart they are or whether they are up on the latest fashions in clothes.
Each child deserves a chance at success in life. As Knights, we try to provide opportunities for success by supporting several youth organizations within St. James Parish in the hope that through our efforts, a steady stream of young adults will emerge and thrive in our society.
Foremost in our mission is the emphasis in supporting youth organizations whose core values emphasize a belief in God.
Boy Scouts Of America
Council 10827 is the Chartered Organization for Cub Scout Pack 142 and Boy Scout Troop 142.
What is a "chartered organization"?
In Boy Scout terms, it means that we, the Knights, not only provide a safe facility where the boys can hold weekly meetings and monthly ceremonies, but also a base of operations for equipment storage, fundraising efforts and other activities.
Through the efforts of the Knights, between 80-100 boys in the Warwick School District and surrounding area are registered on an annual basis with either the Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout Troop based out of St. James. In addition to the physical facilities, we also ensure that the official Boy Scouts of America magazine, "Boys Life" is delivered free of charge to each scout as well as the "Scouting" magazine for adult leaders.
As a number of our Knights are currently involved with scouting - or have been in the past as leaders or former scouts themselves - the continued success of the Boy Scout movement and the core values that it represents is as important today as it was in 1967 when Lititz Troop 142 was founded by Tom Lehmier of our parish.
It should be noted that participation in our Pack or Troop is not limited to only boys of the Catholic faith - our doors are open to all!
Cub Scout Pack 142
Cub Scouting is a year-round family program designed for boys that are about 7 to 10 years old. Parents, leaders and organizations work together to achieve the purpose of Cub Scouting.
Cub Scout Pack 142 is open to all boys who live in the Warwick area. Den meetings are held Tuesday evenings September through May from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. During each of the summer months, there is at least 1 planned Pack activity per month - midnight swims at Lititz Springs Pool, Barnstormer baseball and other fun activities. Boys also can look forward to summer camp at Camp Mack, just north of Brickerville on Rt. 501.

Boy Scout Troop 142
Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys between the ages of 11 - 17. Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship.
Boy Scout Troop 142 meets Thursday evenings, September - July from 7:30 - 9:00 pm.
2007 was a hallmark year for the troop as they celebrated both the 40th anniversary of the founding of the troop as well as breaking the century mark in the number of Eagle Scouts (101 as of this writing).
